AVLF One Child, One Lawyer Training

Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation will hold a training for all interested in volunteering with the One Child, One Lawyer Program to represent a child in the Fulton County Juvenile Court's Family Drug Court. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 1, 2009. Prospective volunteers will be trained in:
- Child welfare law
- How to investigate the case and develop a strategy to achieve timely permanency
- The affect of abuse and neglect on child development
- Drug addiction and treatment
- Ethical issues involved in representing children
Trained volunteers will be eligible to receive cases from AVLF and continued support. The training is also accredited by the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate. The cost of the training is $175, which covers materials, CLE credit and lunch. 7 CLE credits are available including 1 ethics hour.
Registration deadline is November 24, 2009.
